UAS Nightfury is a student-driven drone competition program serving homeschool students in the rural communities of West Virginia. Through hands-on learning, we design, program, and pilot drones for competitive events that challenge our skills in engineering, teamwork, strategy, and problem-solving.

In regions where access to robotics programs and engineering electives is limited, UAS Nightfury provides a critical opportunity for students to engage in STEM in a meaningful, real-world way. Our program fields two competitive teams through the REC Foundation: UAS Nightfury Academy, competing in the Aerial Drone Competition (ADC), and UAS Nightfury Command, competing in ADC Pro, the advanced division focused on complex, real-world mission scenarios.

Each season, our students tackle technical challenges, refine flight performance, and build skills in coding, mission planning, and communication. From piloting drills to autonomous programming, every team member plays a vital role in our success.

UAS Nightfury is more than a competition team — it’s a launchpad for confidence, career exploration, and real-world STEM experience. Through partnerships with local first responders, our students gain hands-on exposure to how drones are used in emergency response and public safety, flying alongside professionals and learning directly from the field.

Operating under STEMpact WV, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Potomac Highlands region, UAS Nightfury is proud to represent rural West Virginia while proving that innovation can come from anywhere.

Focused. Determined. Ready for launch. 🚀

ADC

The Aerial Drone Competition (ADC), organized by the REC Foundation, is a hands-on STEM program where students learn to design, program, and pilot drones in a competitive team environment. Participants develop real-world skills in coding, flight control, mission planning, and teamwork while completing dynamic challenges that simulate real-world drone applications. ADC provides an exciting entry point into aviation, robotics, and engineering, preparing students for future careers in rapidly growing technology fields.

Outreach

From Our Community to the Clouds

UAS Nightfury believes learning doesn’t stop at competition. As students passionate about drones, aviation, and technology, we are committed to sharing our knowledge with others across our rural communities.

Through outreach and engagement, we aim to connect with younger students—especially those without access to traditional STEM programs—to spark curiosity and show that innovation is within reach for everyone. Whether it’s demonstrations, hands-on activities, or community events, we work to make STEM approachable and exciting.

Our students also step into leadership roles by mentoring peers and representing what’s possible through dedication and teamwork. Through these experiences, they grow as communicators, problem-solvers, and role models—helping inspire the next generation to explore technology with confidence and purpose.

Your tax-deductible donation directly supports student competition, equipment, and travel.
