Rooster Bots: Mission Statement


Rooster Bots is a FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) team in Wardensville, West Virginia. We design, build, and program a robot to compete each season. As students, we lead engineering, coding, strategy, outreach, and teamwork. Through competition, we build STEM skills, grow as leaders, and represent our community.
The RoosterBots are a FIRST Tech Challenge team serving homeschool students in Hardy and Hampshire counties. A small but mighty rookie team from the Potomac Highlands, building smart, simple robots and helping grow STEM in rural WV.
The team formed in 2024 when a group of homeschool families who didn't have access to local FTC programs decided to start their own. Named in honor of their homesteading lifestyles—where each family raises chickens—the RoosterBots came to FTC with little experience but a strong desire to learn.
In their rookie season (2024–2025), the team made it to the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship.

Rooster Bots is committed to serving our community through meaningful STEM outreach. As students, we share our passion for robotics and technology to inspire curiosity, encourage confidence, and help others discover opportunities in STEM.
2025-2026 Outreach

During the FIRST® Tech Challenge DECODE℠ season, teams were challenged to think strategically and work collaboratively to complete coding- and technology-focused game tasks with their robots. This marked an exciting milestone for Rooster Bots as we designed and built our very first competition robot. After competing in two qualifiers, our hard work paid off as we advanced to the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship. We are incredibly grateful to everyone in our community who supported and encouraged us throughout the season..
